Do colleges care about high school tardies?

Hey guys, so I've had a few tardies in high school and it's worrying me a bit. Do colleges care or take those into consideration in the admissions process? Thanks for any input!

While it's understandable to be concerned about tardies, the good news is that colleges generally don't focus on this aspect of your high school record. Their primary concern is your academic performance, rigor of coursework, extracurricular involvement, essays, and recommendations. These aspects provide a better understanding of your potential both as a student and for future success.

That being said, if you have a significant number of tardies, it's possible that this could be noted in your counselor's recommendation, which is part of your application. If you feel that your tardiness reflects uncharacteristic behavior on your part, you might consider discussing the reasons behind it with your counselor. They can choose to provide context in their recommendation, which can put your tardiness in a more favorable light.

Moreover, it's important to focus on what's in your control during the application process—your personal statement and supplements, extracurricular activities, and how you present yourself through the application. Demonstrate your personal growth, dedication, and commitment to your future goals, and colleges are more likely to see your potential beyond the few instances of tardiness.

In summary, tardies are generally not a major concern for college admissions, but it's essential to ensure the other aspects of your application are strong and convey your abilities. Good luck!
