I recently took the SAT and accidentally sent the scores to a few colleges I applied to. The thing is, I don't think I did very well and I plan on retaking it, so I'm wondering if there's a way to unsend those scores? Any help would be appreciated!
Unfortunately, once your SAT scores have been sent to colleges, there is no way to unsend or retract them. However, do not worry too much about this, as many colleges practice something called superscoring, which means they take the highest section scores from all test dates and create a new combined score. Essentially, if you perform better in any section on your retake, your new scores can improve your overall SAT score in the eyes of the college.
In addition, many colleges also consider your application holistically and will often look at your improvements on the SAT retake as a positive aspect. They may view it as you demonstrating perseverance and dedication to bettering yourself academically. So in this case, your lower initial scores might not actually harm your application as much as you might think.
In the meantime, focus on preparing for your SAT retake and aim to improve your scores. You can use resources such as Khan Academy, CollegeVine, and official SAT practice tests to help you study more effectively. Good luck on your retaking of the SAT and your college applications!
