Should I include unrelated extracurriculars on my college application?

Hi everyone! I'm a junior who's starting to think about my college applications, and I'm wondering whether I should include extracurriculars that aren't related to my intended major. I have a few hobbies and clubs that I'm passionate about, but they don't necessarily align with my academic interests. Would including them help or hurt my application? Thanks so much for your help!

Hi! It's great that you're starting to think about your college applications early. In my opinion, you should include those unrelated extracurriculars on your application. Colleges often look for well-rounded students who have a variety of interests and experiences. Your hobbies and clubs show that you have a life outside of academics and that you're a well-balanced individual. Even if they don't directly connect to your intended major, they can still demonstrate valuable skills like leadership, teamwork, and time management. Plus, including them might make you stand out from other applicants who have similar academic profiles. Just make sure to also emphasize any extracurriculars that are related to your major, as those will show your passion for the subject. In short, don't be afraid to showcase your diverse interests and experiences on your application. Best of luck with your college journey!
