When should I start preparing for the SAT?

Hello everyone! I'm a high school junior and I'm a little bit stressed about when I should start preparing for the SAT. I want to make sure I have enough time to study and improve my score. Can anyone recommend the best time to start preparing and how long I should study for? Thank you so much!

Hi there! It's great that you're thinking ahead about preparing for the SAT. It's important to give yourself enough time to study and feel confident about the test. Based on what I've seen with my own child and their friends, I would suggest starting to prepare at least six months before you plan to take the test. This will give you ample time to familiarize yourself with the format, learn strategies, and practice consistently. Of course, this timeline can vary depending on your current skill level and how much time you can commit to studying each week. If you're already strong in the areas covered by the SAT, you might need less time to prepare. On the other hand, if you feel you have a lot to work on, it might be helpful to start even earlier. As for how long you should study, try to aim for at least 1-2 hours per week, and gradually increase your study time as the test date gets closer. Remember to take breaks and not to over-stress yourself. Good luck!
