Hi all, I'm a high school junior and I recently took the SAT/ACT but my scores were lower than I had hoped. I'm wondering if it's worth it to retake the test to try to improve my score, or if I should focus on other aspects of my college application instead. What do you think? Thanks for your advice!
Hi there! It's completely normal to feel uncertain about your test scores. From my experience with my own child, I can tell you that it's definitely worth considering a retake if you believe you have the potential to improve your scores. Colleges usually take the highest score from multiple attempts, so there's no harm in trying again. However, keep in mind that standardized test scores are just one part of the overall application. If you think you can significantly improve other aspects of your application, such as your GPA, extracurricular activities, or essays, it might be worth focusing on those instead. Ultimately, it comes down to how much time and effort you're willing to put into preparing for a retake and whether you believe it will make a positive impact on your application. Good luck with whatever you decide, and remember that there are many factors colleges consider when evaluating applicants!
