Can I submit art or writing supplements with my application?

Hey guys, I'm a junior and I love to write and create art. I was wondering if I can submit some of my work as a supplement with my college application, and if so, how do I go about doing that? Will colleges actually look at them? Thanks in advance!

Hello! It's great to hear about your passion for writing and art. Many colleges do allow students to submit supplementary materials like art portfolios or writing samples along with their application. To find out if the colleges you're interested in allow this, check their admissions websites or reach out to their admissions offices directly. They'll provide you with the necessary guidelines and information on how to submit your work.

As for whether colleges will actually look at your supplementary materials, the answer is generally yes. If a college allows you to submit additional materials, it's because they're interested in getting to know you as a well-rounded individual. Your art and writing can provide a unique perspective on your personality, skills, and interests that may not be fully captured in the rest of your application.

Just keep in mind that your main application components (like your GPA, test scores, and essays) will still play a significant role in the admissions process. Good luck with your applications and showcasing your talents!
