How do colleges view multiple SAT or ACT attempts?

Hi everyone! I'm a junior, and I've taken the SAT once but didn't get the score I wanted. I'm planning to retake it, but I'm worried that colleges might view multiple attempts negatively. Is this something I should be concerned about? Thanks!

Hi there! First of all, don't worry too much about taking the SAT multiple times. Most colleges understand that students may need to take the test more than once to achieve their desired score. In fact, many schools practice 'superscoring,' which means they'll take the highest score from each section of the SAT (or ACT) across multiple test dates and use those to calculate your best overall score. This policy encourages students to take the test multiple times to improve their performance. However, it's still a good idea to research the specific policies of the colleges you're interested in, as some might have different preferences. Generally speaking, taking the SAT two or three times is not frowned upon, but taking it more than that might raise some eyebrows. Just focus on preparing well and giving it your best shot. Good luck!
