Can anyone share their experience with applying Early Decision?

Hi everyone! I'm considering applying Early Decision to my top choice school, but I'm unsure about the pros and cons of this decision. I'd love to hear from people who have gone through the process themselves. What were your experiences and do you have any advice for someone in my position? Thanks so much!

Hi there! My child went through the Early Decision process a couple of years ago, and overall, it was a positive experience. Since they were absolutely sure about their top choice school, applying Early Decision allowed them to demonstrate their commitment to the college. This can potentially increase your chances of being accepted since colleges know you're serious about attending their institution. Additionally, if you're accepted, the stress of waiting for regular decision results is eliminated. On the other hand, Early Decision can have its drawbacks. The most notable one is that it's a binding agreement, so if you're accepted, you must attend that school. This can be an issue if you later receive a better financial aid offer from another college, as you wouldn't be able to compare packages. My advice would be to carefully weigh the pros and cons and be sure that you're 100% committed to your top choice school before applying Early Decision. Best of luck!
