Do I need to visit colleges before applying?

Hi guys! I'm a junior and I've been researching colleges online. I was wondering if it's important to visit colleges before applying. Is it necessary or can I get a good feel for the school through virtual tours and online resources? Thanks!

Hey there! It's great that you're doing your research on colleges, and you're definitely not alone in wondering if visiting is necessary. The truth is, visiting colleges can be very helpful, but it's not always required. Some students find that visiting a campus helps them get a feel for the atmosphere, culture, and whether they would be comfortable there or not. Taking a campus tour, talking to current students, and attending information sessions can provide valuable insights that you might not get from online resources alone.

However, that being said, I know that not everyone has the time or means to visit every college they're interested in. In those cases, virtual tours, online resources, and reaching out to current students or alumni can still give you a pretty good idea of what the college is like. You could also consider attending local college fairs or admissions events where representatives from the schools you're interested in might be present.

In the end, it's really up to you and what you feel comfortable with. If you have the opportunity to visit, it could be a valuable experience, but if not, there are still many ways to learn about a school without physically being there. Good luck with your college search!
