Do colleges look at senior year grades?

Hey guys, I'm a high school junior and I've been wondering if colleges look at senior year grades when making admissions decisions. I've heard mixed opinions on this, so I'm not sure what to believe. Do colleges actually consider senior year grades? Thanks in advance!

Hello there! I can understand why you might be confused with all the different opinions out there. From my experience with my own child, I can tell you that yes, colleges do look at senior year grades. They are an important part of your overall high school transcript, and colleges want to see that you're maintaining a strong academic performance throughout your entire high school career, not just during your first three years. However, the weight they put on senior year grades can vary depending on the college and the specific admissions process. For example, for schools with rolling admissions, they may not have access to your final senior year grades before making a decision. But for most colleges, they will see your senior year grades, especially if you're applying regular decision. So, it's definitely a good idea to keep working hard and maintaining good grades throughout your senior year. Best of luck!
