What do colleges think about AP test scores?

Hi there! I'm a junior and I've been taking a couple of AP classes this year. I'm a bit stressed about the upcoming AP tests and I'm wondering how much weight colleges put on AP test scores. Do good scores really boost your chances of getting into a good college? Thanks in advance!

Hey there! I can understand the stress that comes with taking AP tests, especially as a junior. From my experience with my child's college application process, I can tell you that AP test scores do play a role in admissions, but they're not the only factor that colleges consider. Good scores can definitely help, but it's also important to remember that your overall academic performance, extracurricular activities, and essays play a significant role in the decision-making process as well. Most colleges appreciate students who challenge themselves by taking AP courses and performing well on the exams, as it demonstrates your ability to handle college-level coursework. However, don't let the stress of AP tests overwhelm you. Focus on doing your best and continue to maintain a strong academic record. If you're feeling particularly anxious, try reaching out to your counselor or talking to your teachers for advice and support. Remember, colleges look at your application holistically, so just do your best and stay positive! Good luck!
