Texas Wesleyan University Athletics?

Hey all, I'm interested in attending Texas Wesleyan University, but I also want to continue participating in athletics while in college. Can anyone tell me about the athletic programs available at TWU, and the overall athletic culture there? Much appreciated!

Certainly! Texas Wesleyan University (TWU) is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and competes in the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC). The university offers a variety of sports programs for both men and women, so it's likely that you'll have an opportunity to continue your athletic pursuits.

For men, the available sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, and track & field. For women, there are basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, track & field, and volleyball programs. In addition to varsity sports, TWU also offers competitive cheer and dance teams, as well as table tennis.

The athletic culture at TWU generally focuses on balancing academics with athletics. The university strives to provide a well-rounded experience for its student-athletes, by prioritizing academics while simultaneously encouraging a competitive spirit and camaraderie among team members. Additionally, TWU has experienced a fair amount of success in its athletic programs. For example, their men's basketball team captured the NAIA Division I national championship in 2019.

TWU also offers various athletic facilities, such as the Martin University Center, the Sid Richardson Center gymnasium, the Sam Perry Athletic Complex, and the Sycamore Park Golf Course, to ensure student-athletes have access to amenities and resources to support their training and competition needs.

Overall, if you're interested in joining athletics while attending Texas Wesleyan University, you'll likely find a welcoming and competitive atmosphere that will help you balance both your academic and athletic pursuits. Good luck!
