How good is the Computer Science program at Texas Tech?

I'm currently looking into applying to Texas Tech for Computer Science. Anyone majoring in CS could give me some input on how the program is in terms of quality, internships opportunities and job placements? Thanks a lot!

Hey there! Texas Tech's Computer Science program is solid and fairly well-regarded. Their undergraduate program in CS is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, which is a strong sign of high-quality education in the field.

In terms of curriculum, the program offers a good mix of required courses and electives, allowing students the opportunity to dive deeper into their areas of interest. Texas Tech also offers some undergraduate research opportunities, if that's something you might be interested in pursuing.

As for internships and job placements, Texas Tech's Career Center provides resources for students to find internships, co-op experiences, and job opportunities. Many CS students at Texas Tech end up finding opportunities with renowned tech companies as well as local and regional businesses. Furthermore, Texas Tech's location in the thriving tech job market of Texas (think Austin, Dallas, and Houston) is advantageous, as it opens up additional doors for internships and job placements.

Another factor to consider is the quality of the professors and the support system available from the department. Texas Tech's faculty is highly experienced, and students generally have a positive experience with them.

In the end, while Texas Tech's Computer Science program might not hold the same prestige as some top-tier tech-focused schools, it provides a solid foundation for students pursuing a career in the field, as well as a supportive environment for finding internships and job opportunities.

Good luck with your application and future endeavors!
