KU Economics Major - Thoughts?

I'm looking into majoring in Economics at KU. Anybody here who's pursued that major or knows someone who did? How are the courses, professors, and overall experience in the program?

I've heard quite a few positive remarks from students who have pursued an Economics major at the University of Kansas (KU). It seems that the program provides a strong foundation in economic theory, quantitative methods, and practical application, which prepares students well for various career paths or graduate study.

The courses at KU cover a wide range of topics, apart from the core Microeconomics and Macroeconomics courses, there are more specialized subjects such as health economics, labor economics, and international economics. Many students appreciate the flexibility in course selection, which allows them to tailor their education to fit their interests and career goals.

As for the professors in the Economics department at KU, they are generally known to be experienced, knowledgeable, and dedicated to their students. Students have commented on their approachability and willingness to provide guidance both in and out of the classroom. Some professors have expertise in niche areas, resulting in more specialized and unique courses being offered. However, as with any university, experiences with individual professors can vary, and it's always a good idea to look up professor reviews on websites like Rate My Professors to get a better understanding of what to expect in terms of teaching style.

Considering the overall experience, students in the Economics program at KU often appreciate the opportunities for networking and involvement through the Economics Club or other related organizations. Many also value the availability of research and internship opportunities and the support provided by the department in seeking these opportunities.

Of course, each person's experience will be unique, and it's crucial to visit campus, talk to current students, and sit in on a class or two if possible, to get a better sense of whether the Economics program at KU is the right fit for you. Good luck!
