Carnegie Mellon University Division?

Hi! I'm currently researching Carnegie Mellon University and I'm curious about their athletics, specifically which division they're a part of. Does anyone know? Thanks!

Hello! Carnegie Mellon University competes in NCAA Division III athletics, within the University Athletic Association (UAA) conference, which includes other highly-regarded research universities. This division emphasizes a balance between sports and academics, and focuses on the development of the whole student-athlete experience. In Division III, there are no athletic scholarships available; however, student-athletes can still receive need-based or academic scholarships.

If you do end up applying to Carnegie Mellon and are looking for tips on how to maximize your chances of acceptance, check out this blog post from CollegeVine, which breaks down how to tackle their school-specific supplemental essays: https://blog.collegevine.com/how-to-write-the-carnegie-mellon-essays/. After all, while CMU doesn't compete at the highest level of college sports, the school has a phenomenal reputation for academics, so the admissions process is highly competitive, and the essays are often just the thing that distinguish one talented applicant from another.

Good luck with your research!
