Masters in American Sign Language programs?

I want to pursue a career in American Sign Language (ASL) and I'm currently looking at graduate programs. Can anybody recommend any schools or programs with a strong focus on ASL? Thanks!

There are several graduate programs in the United States that focus on American Sign Language (ASL) and related fields such as interpreting, linguistics, and deaf studies. Here are a few to help you start your research:

1. Gallaudet University, located in Washington, D.C., is the premier institution for deaf and hard of hearing students in the United States. They offer a Master of Arts in Sign Language Education, as well as a few other graduate programs in interpreting, linguistics, and deaf education.

2. Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) has a strong focus on ASL through its National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID). They offer a Master of Science in Secondary Education (MSSE) with a focus on teaching ASL and English to deaf or hard-of-hearing students.

3. Western Oregon University (WOU) offers a Master of Arts in Interpreting Studies with focuses on ASL/English interpreting or ASL/English interpreting education.

4. University of North Florida (UNF) offers a Master of Science in ASL/English Interpreting with a focus on advanced interpreting, teaching interpreting, and research.

It's important to consider your career goals when choosing a program. If you're interested in teaching ASL, a program focusing on sign language education might be your best choice. If you're interested in interpreting or research, a program with a strong focus on ASL linguistics or interpreting studies could be a better fit. Make sure to research each program thoroughly and reach out to current students or alumni to get a better understanding of the program's strengths and offerings. Good luck!
