Experiences with Ithaca College Film School?

Hey everybody! Can anyone share their thoughts and experiences with the film school at Ithaca College? I'm considering applying, and I'd love to hear some feedback from current or former students. Thanks!

Hey there! I'm not a current or former student of Ithaca College, but I have spoken with students who have attended the film program, and I'm happy to share what I've heard.

Overall, it seems that students have had positive experiences with the Ithaca film program. The faculty is often praised for their dedication, passion, and industry experience, which ensures that you get a comprehensive and hands-on education. The Park School of Communications is well-equipped with state-of-the-art facilities that allow students to get real-world experience in film production.

One of the unique aspects of Ithaca is its location in upstate New York. While it may not be as bustling and entertainment-centric as a city like Los Angeles or New York City, it offers a close-knit film community which facilitates collaboration and relationship building.

The curriculum is well-rounded, with courses covering everything from film theory to the technical elements of production and post-production. Additionally, the program provides students with opportunities to work on collaborative projects. Many students appreciate the chance to get their hands on a camera and start creating from the very beginning.

Ithaca College also offers a semester-long study-away program called the Ithaca in Los Angeles Program (ICLA), which allows film students to experience Hollywood firsthand and take part in internships within the entertainment industry.

As far as alumni connections and networking go, the program has a solid reputation, leading to internships, jobs, and collaborations for its graduates.

That being said, the best way to determine if Ithaca is a good fit for you is to visit the campus if you can, attend a workshop or an open house, and speak with current students or recent alumni to get their input. It's important to consider your personal preferences and priorities when choosing a film school. Good luck!
