When's the best time to take the SAT during high school?

Hey everyone, I'm starting to plan out my high school testing schedule. When do you recommend taking the SAT for the first time? Should I aim for sophomore or junior year?

I'd recommend taking the SAT for the first time during your junior year, ideally in the spring. This allows you to have a solid foundation in the math and English courses that the test is based on. Also, the spring of your junior year gives you time to prepare and potentially retake the test in the fall of your senior year if needed.

Many students opt to take the PSAT in their sophomore year to become familiar with the format and content of the test. This information can be helpful when preparing for the SAT later on. Keep in mind that taking the test too early might not give you the best results, as you may not have covered all the material tested yet.

When planning your testing schedule, make sure to factor in your coursework, extracurriculars, and other commitments. It's important to find a balance and ensure you have dedicated time to prepare for the SAT without overwhelming yourself. Good luck with your planning and test preparations!
