What should I do if I'm waitlisted at a college?

Hi everyone! I'm worried about the possibility of being waitlisted at one of my top-choice colleges. If this happens, what should I do? Is there anything I can do to increase my chances of getting off the waitlist? Thanks for your help!

Hello! Being waitlisted can definitely be a stressful experience, but don't worry, there are a few steps you can take to increase your chances of getting off the waitlist. Firstly, make sure you accept your place on the waitlist, as colleges usually require you to do so in order to keep your spot. Next, consider writing a letter of continued interest (LOCI) to the college expressing your enthusiasm for the school and any recent achievements or updates since submitting your application. This will show the admissions office that you're still highly interested in attending their college. Additionally, maintain strong academic performance and extracurricular involvement during the remaining months of your senior year. Keep in touch with the admissions office and let them know if you receive any notable awards or honors. Lastly, it's important to have a backup plan. Make sure to commit to another college by the May 1st deadline so that you have a secure spot for the fall. If you're eventually accepted off the waitlist, you can then choose to switch schools. Best of luck!
