Should I submit an SAT score if it's optional?

Hey all! I'm a junior and I've taken the SAT, but my top-choice college has made submitting SAT scores optional. My score is decent, but not outstanding. Should I still submit my score or focus on other parts of my application? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Hey there! It's great that you're thinking about your college application strategy. If your SAT score falls within or above the middle 50% range for admitted students at your top-choice college, it would be a good idea to submit your score. It can provide additional context to your application and demonstrate your academic ability. On the other hand, if your score is below that range, you might want to consider not submitting it and focusing more on other aspects of your application, like your GPA, extracurricular activities, essays, and recommendations. Keep in mind, though, that a slightly lower score doesn't necessarily mean you won't get in! Colleges are increasingly looking at the whole picture when it comes to admissions, and a strong application in other areas can help offset a less-than-stellar SAT score. Ultimately, the decision is up to you and what you feel best represents your academic achievements and potential. Good luck with your college application journey!
