Creighton meal plans?

So I got accepted into Creighton University (yay!), and I'm trying to figure out my housing/meal plan situation. Can someone who's currently attending or has attended recently give me some insight on the available meal plan options? Are they worth it, and which one would you recommend for an incoming freshman?

Congratulations on your acceptance to Creighton University! Meal plans can be a significant part of your college experience, so it's great that you're thinking about the options available.

Creighton offers several meal plan options for freshmen, typically consisting of swipes to be used at dining locations on campus and dining dollars (flex money) that can be spent at various food locations across campus. As an incoming freshman, you'll most likely have to choose from a set of meal plans, which can range from a base plan with a lower number of swipes and dining dollars to an upper-tier plan that offers more swipes and dining dollars.

It's important to assess your eating habits and needs when choosing the best meal plan for you. If you frequent the dining halls for all three meals a day, a plan with more swipes might work best. Meanwhile, if you prefer to get meals at other campus eateries or make your own food in a dorm kitchen occasionally, a plan with more dining dollars may better suit your needs. Keep in mind the pricing difference between the plans; the higher the number of swipes and dining dollars, the more expensive the meal plan.

To determine which meal plan is the best fit, you should consider factors like your daily schedule, appetite, and any dietary restrictions. Some students find that they rarely use all their swipes, in which case they could save money by selecting a meal plan with fewer swipes. In contrast, others might need more swipes or dining dollars to accommodate their lifestyle and preferences. It's also worth noting that Creighton's dining services offer a variety of food options, so you'll have the opportunity to explore and find which eateries work best for you.

As an incoming freshman, it's generally recommended to start with a mid-tier meal plan and adjust as needed in your following semesters. This way, you can gauge your meal preferences and habits during your first semester and make changes for future semesters accordingly. Remember that meal plan requirements may change as you move through college, and you may have more flexibility in your options as you progress to upperclassman status.

Once again, congratulations on your acceptance to Creighton University, and I hope this information helps you choose the best meal plan for you. Good luck, and enjoy your college experience!
