Curious about Unity University

Hi all! I came across Unity University when searching for colleges, but I'm not really familiar with it. Is it accredited? Any thoughts on the academics or social scene there?

Unity University is a small, private institution located in Unity, Maine. It is indeed regionally accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). Unity University's focus is predominantly on environmental and sustainability-related subjects: undergraduate programs are in fields such as Environmental Science, Wildlife and Fisheries Management, Sustainable Agriculture, and Environmental Policy and Planning.

Academically, Unity is known for its hands-on, experiential learning approach, which means that students can expect to participate in research, fieldwork, and internships that will provide them with practical experience in their chosen concentration within the broad field of sustainability. The small class sizes and close relationships with professors are an advantage for students who thrive in a more intimate learning environment.

With a campus surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes such as forests, wetlands, and lakes, students at Unity have ample opportunities to engage in outdoor activities and environmental stewardship. This setting, along with the school's academic focus, attracts environmentally-conscious students with shared interests, to create a socially conscious and ecologically-minded community. The social scene at Unity University is likely to lean more towards sustainable living, outdoor adventures, and environmental clubs and activities.

While Unity University can be a great fit for the right student, the academic, extracurricular, and social offerings aren't as varied as at more traditional institutions. If the environment isn't one of your primary passions, you may feel somewhat limited. However, it is always a good idea to visit the campus, speak with current students, and explore social media groups or forums related to the university to get a better feel for the campus life and social scene at Unity University, to best evaluate your potential fit for the school.

Best of luck with your college search!
