What's the difference between the Common App and the Coalition App?

Hey everyone! I'm a little confused about the difference between the Common App and the Coalition App. Which one should I use for my college applications? Are there any advantages to using one over the other? Thanks for any advice!

Hello! It's great that you're looking into your college application options. The Common App and the Coalition App are both online platforms that allow you to submit applications to multiple colleges with a single application. The main differences between the two platforms are the number of participating colleges and their respective missions.

The Common App has been around longer and has more than 900 participating colleges and universities. The Coalition App, on the other hand, has a smaller number of participating institutions (around 150), but they all meet certain criteria regarding affordability and student success.

As for which one to use, it really depends on the colleges you're interested in. Some schools accept both platforms, while others may prefer one over the other. I suggest researching the application requirements for the schools on your list and choosing the platform that works best for you. There's no inherent advantage to using one over the other, so focus on what meets your needs. Good luck with your applications!
