Hi everyone! I'm a junior in high school, and I've taken both the ACT and SAT. My scores are pretty similar on both tests, but I'm not sure which one I should submit to colleges. Do colleges have a preference for one test over the other? Any advice on which scores I should send would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hi there! It's great that you've taken both the ACT and SAT. Generally speaking, colleges in the United States do not have a preference for one test over the other. Admissions offices are usually quite familiar with both tests, and they're equipped to look at your scores in the context of their own incoming student populations. What's important is that you submit the scores that best represent your abilities and potential. If your scores are similar on both tests, you might consider sending both scores to demonstrate your versatility and adaptability in different testing environments. Alternatively, you could choose to submit the score that aligns more closely with the colleges you're applying to, based on their 25th-75th percentile score ranges for admitted students. Ultimately, it's up to you to decide which score(s) you feel best represent your abilities. Good luck with your college applications!
