Size of U of A Campus

Hey there! I'm trying to figure out if I'd be comfortable on the University of Arizona's campus. Can anyone give me a sense of how large the campus is and if it feels like a tight-knit community or more spread out? Thanks!

The University of Arizona (U of A) campus is indeed quite large, covering approximately 380 acres. It is located in the heart of Tucson, Arizona. Given the size of the campus, many students utilize different modes of transportation, such as bikes, scooters, and the campus shuttle system, to help them get around more efficiently.

While the campus may appear spread out due to its size, U of A still has a strong sense of community. The school offers over 600 student clubs and organizations, which provide ample opportunities for students to connect with others who share similar interests and build sub-communities for themselves within the large student body. There are also numerous events throughout the year, such as Homecoming and Spring Fling, that bring the campus community together.

Although U of A is a large university with over 45,000 students, the presence of residential living communities and smaller majors also helps foster more intimate connections among students and faculty. These tight-knit groups within the larger university can make the large campus feel more manageable and connected.

Ultimately, the sense of community at U of A will depend on what you make of it. You likely will have to take more initiative to make friends and find students who share your interests than you would at a smaller school. However, by actively participating in clubs, organizations, and events, you can create strong connections and feel more at home, despite the large campus size. It's always a good idea to visit the campus (either in-person or virtually), though, before making a decision to see if the University of Arizona is the right fit for you.

Best of luck with your college search!
