Best Division 2 soccer colleges in California?

Hi all! I'm a high school junior really interested in playing soccer at a D2 college in California. Could someone provide me with a list of some of the top D2 soccer programs in the state? I'd appreciate any input or personal experience from current or former players as well. Thanks in advance!

Hi there! It's great to hear that you're passionate about playing soccer at the collegiate level. I can certainly help you out with a list of some top D2 soccer schools in California. Keep in mind that some schools may be more competitive than others and have varying levels of prestige in their athletic and academic programs. Additionally, at some schools the women's program might be significantly stronger than the men's, or vice versa.

That being said, here is a list of a few D2 colleges in California with strong soccer programs:

1. California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State LA) - The Golden Eagles have a consistently strong program for both men's and women's soccer, as both have multiple conference titles under their belt, and the men even won the D2 national championship in 2021.

2. California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) - The Broncos have a history of success in soccer, particularly in the women's program, which has won national championships in the past.

3. California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) - The Coyotes have a solid soccer program which typically performs well against a competitive conference schedule throughout the season.

4. California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) - The Toros have a successful soccer history, with both men's and women's teams consistently competing at a high level within their conference.

5. California State University, Chico (Chico State) - The Wildcats have a competitive soccer program and are known for their strong team culture.

6. Sonoma State University - Situated in a beautiful location, the Seawolves have a reputation for having well-rounded soccer programs that focus on developing their athletes on and off the field.

While it's important to consider the strength of the soccer program when making your decision, you should also factor in each school's academic offerings, campus life, and location to determine the best fit for you personally and academically, as well as athletically. Reach out to the coaching staff at these colleges to learn more about the programs, and if possible, attend some games or visit the campuses so that you can get a sense of each school's soccer culture. Good luck in your search!
