USC usually stands for the University of Southern California, a private research university located in Los Angeles, California. There is also the University of South Carolina, which is also sometimes referred to as USC, but the acronym is more commonly associated with the University of Southern California.

Established in 1880, USC is known for its strong programs in business, film, engineering, communications, and the arts. The USC Marshall School of Business and the USC School of Cinematic Arts are particularly renowned, with the latter being one of the best film schools in the nation.

The university operates on a semester system and has an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 20,000 students. USC offers over 150 majors and minors across various fields of study, so students can pursue a diverse range of academic interests.

Athletics also play an integral part in USC's culture. Its teams, known as the Trojans, have historically participated in the NCAA Division I Pac-12 Conference, although they will soon be moving to the Big Ten. Furthermore, the campus is situated in the heart of Los Angeles, so students have access to numerous cultural, entertainment, and internship opportunities in a vibrant city setting.

Finally, USC is known for its competitive admissions process. It's essential to have a strong application, including high grades and test scores, involvement in extracurricular activities, and thoughtful, compelling essays, to be considered a strong candidate for admission.
