Cal Poly Football: D1 or not?

Hey sports fans! Quick question: Is Cal Poly's football team in Division 1? I'd like to know before I apply since I'm considering playing college football. Thanks for your help!

Hey there! Yes, Cal Poly's football team is indeed Division 1. They compete at the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) level in the Big Sky Conference. If you're interested in playing college football, Cal Poly could be a great option for you, although do be aware that, as an FCS school, rather than a Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) one, they do not compete at the very highest level of the sport. However, the competition will still be intense, and there will be abundant resources available to help the football team succeed.

Do be aware that playing D1 football is a significant time commitment, and you may need to make sacrifices in other areas of your college experience. That being said, many D1 student-athletes find their college experience to be incredibly enriching, personally as well as athletically. Just make sure this track is right for you, and don't hesitate to reach out directly to Cal Poly's football coaching staff directly with any questions you may have about what being on the team is like.

Best of luck with your application to Cal Poly and your future football endeavors!
