How to ask for a letter of recommendation?

Hey, I'm a junior, and I know that I'll need letters of recommendation for my applications. I'm just not sure how to go about asking my teachers. Can anyone give me some guidance on this process? Thanks!

Hey there! Asking for a letter of recommendation can seem a bit intimidating, but it's a normal part of the application process. I'd be happy to share some tips, based on my experience with my own child. First, choose teachers who know you well and can speak to your strengths, both academically and personally. Ideally, they should have taught you in your junior or senior year, and you should have performed well in their class. Once you've identified the teachers you'd like to ask, approach them in person if possible, or through email if necessary due to remote learning. Be polite and respectful, and let them know why you think they'd be the best person to write your letter. Give them plenty of time before the deadline, at least a month if possible. It's also helpful to provide them with a 'brag sheet' that includes your accomplishments, extracurricular activities, and any relevant details about your future goals. Lastly, don't forget to thank them for their time and effort, and keep them updated on your college application journey. Good luck!
