Is it better to submit an optional test score or not?

Hi there, I'm a junior and I know that many colleges have gone test-optional due to COVID-19. My test scores aren't amazing, but they're not terrible either. Should I submit them or just leave them out of my application? Thanks for any input!

Hey there! It's great that you're thinking about your college applications early. When it comes to submitting optional test scores, the decision really depends on your individual situation. If you believe that your test scores do not accurately represent your abilities or potential, then it may be better to leave them out. On the other hand, if you think your scores add some value to your application, then go ahead and submit them. It's important to consider how your test scores compare to the average scores of admitted students at the schools you're applying to. If your scores are within or above that range, it could be a good idea to include them. But if they're significantly below the average, it might be more beneficial to focus on other aspects of your application, like your essays, extracurriculars, and letters of recommendation. Ultimately, you should do what you feel is best for your application and showcases your strengths the most. Good luck with the application process!
