Looking for Mortuary Science programs

Hey everyone, I'm really interested in pursuing a career in mortuary science, and I've been doing some research on schools in different states like Colorado, Kentucky, Arizona, Florida, and North Carolina. Does anyone have any recommendations for the best mortuary schools in these areas? Thanks in advance!

Hey there! You've chosen an interesting and unique field to study. I'm glad to offer you some guidance on mortuary science programs in the states you mentioned.

1. Colorado: Arapahoe Community College in Littleton offers a solid Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Mortuary Science that prepares students for embalming, funeral directing, and other aspects of the profession. This is the only program in the state accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education (ABFSE).

2. Kentucky: The Mid-America College of Funeral Service is located in Jeffersonville (right across the river from Louisville). The college offers an AAS in Funeral Service, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Funeral Service Management for those interested in more advanced education in the field.

3. Arizona: Mesa Community College offers an AAS in Mortuary Science. This program focuses on different aspects of funeral service, such as embalming, funeral directing, and funeral home management. The program is accredited by the ABFSE, which ensures you'll receive a quality education.

4. Florida: Several schools in Florida offer mortuary science programs, such as Miami Dade College (AAS in Funeral Service Education) and St. Petersburg College (AAS in Funeral Services). Both programs are accredited by the ABFSE and provide students the necessary education to enter the profession.

5. North Carolina: Fayetteville Technical Community College offers an AAS in Funeral Service Education. The curriculum includes courses such as pathology, embalming, business, and funeral directing. This program is also accredited by the ABFSE.

As you research these programs, take note of each school's accreditation, program offerings, and any state-specific licensing requirements you may need to be aware of. Be sure to visit the American Board of Funeral Service Education's website for more information on accrediting standards and a list of accredited programs. Good luck in your search, and I hope you find a great program that suits your needs!
