UCLA CSE ranking

I'm considering applying to UCLA for Computer Science and Engineering. Can anyone tell me what its current ranking is and how it compares to other top CS programs?

UCLA's Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) program is consistently ranked among the top programs in the country. As of 2023, UCLA's CSE program ranks #14 according to the U.S. News & World Report for "Best Computer Science Programs". However, keep in mind that program rankings can change slightly from year to year and may vary across different ranking sources.

To give you a comparison against other top CS programs, here are some of the institutions that typically appear at the very top of the rankings:

1. Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)

2. Stanford University

3. Carnegie Mellon University

4. University of California--Berkeley

5. University of Washington

While UCLA's CSE program may not rank quite as high as these institutions, it's important to remember that rankings don't tell the full story, and plus, UCLA's ranking is still excellent. Several factors contribute to the overall quality of a program, including faculty expertise, research opportunities, industry connections, and campus resources. A slightly lower ranked school overall may have particular faculty members working in your areas of interest, or a research opportunity or study abroad program that aligns perfectly with your goals. These kinds of resources can make that school a better fit for you personally than even a school at the very top of the rankings.

As you're considering applying to UCLA, focus on your personal needs and interests, rather than just relying on rankings. You should ask yourself how the school fits with your academic goals, extracurricular interests, and overall desired college experience. In the end, finding a college that aligns well with your aspirations and personality is what truly matters, not a slightly lower position in the rankings. Rest assured, you'll receive a phenomenal computer science education at UCLA.
