University of Washington Application Requirements?

Hey guys! I'm thinking about applying to the University of Washington and wanted to find out their application requirements. Can anyone provide me with some information on this? Thank you so much!

Hey there! The University of Washington (UW) is a fantastic choice, and it's great that you're considering applying. Here's an overview of the application requirements:

1. Application: UW uses the Common Application as the platform for submitting your application. You'll need to create an account and fill out the sections on personal information, family background, academic history, extracurriculars, etc.

2. Essays: The Common Application has a selection of personal statement prompts to choose from. You'll also need to write an answer to the UW-specific prompt, which focuses on how you intend to engage with your chosen major or area of study at UW.

3. High school transcript: You must submit your official high school transcript, which should include all courses and grades from 9th through 11th grade, as well as the courses you plan to take during your senior year.

4. Standardized test scores: As of Fall 2021, UW has adopted a test-optional policy for freshman applicants. You can choose whether or not to submit your SAT or ACT scores. If you decide to submit your scores, you can self-report them on your application, and only need to send official score reports if you're offered admission and decide to enroll.

5. Letters of recommendation: UW generally does not require or accept letters of recommendation. The exception is for applicants to the Honors Program, which requires two letters.

6. Application fee: There's a $80 application fee, but fee waivers are available if you qualify based on financial need.

Your application components should provide an overview of your academic achievements, activities and involvement, and future aspirations. UW uses a holistic review process, so all aspects of your application will be considered. To increase your chances of getting admitted, aim for a strong GPA, submit well-crafted essays, and showcase your extracurricular involvement. Good luck with the process!
