What should I bring to the SAT?

Hey guys, I have my SAT coming up soon and I'm unsure about what I need to bring with me on test day. Can you all give me a list of essentials, like what kind of calculator is allowed and any other items that might come in handy?

Hey there! It's essential to be prepared for the SAT, so here's a list of things you should bring along to ensure a smooth test day experience:

1. Admission Ticket: This is a must-have, as it's your proof of registration. Print it out beforehand and double-check the information to avoid any complications on test day.

2. Photo ID: Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID such as a driver's license or passport. Your school ID may also be accepted if it clearly shows your photo and name.

3. No. 2 pencils and erasers: Bring at least two No. 2 pencils (not mechanical) with erasers. Make sure the pencils are sharpened beforehand to save time during the test.

4. Approved calculator: A calculator is allowed only for the math portion of the exam. The College Board has a list of approved calculator models on their website. Generally, most graphing calculators, scientific calculators, and four-function calculators (not recommended) are allowed. Be sure to check if your specific model is permitted.

5. Extra batteries and/or backup calculator: It's wise to have extra batteries for your calculator or even a backup calculator, as technical issues can occur at the least convenient times.

6. Snacks and water: Bring snacks like granola bars or fruit and a bottle of water to stay fueled and hydrated during the breaks.

7. Watch (without internet access): A simple watch can help you manage your time effectively, as long as it doesn't have internet or any noise-making features.

8. Comfortable clothing and layers: Dress comfortably in layers, as the temperature in the testing room can be unpredictable.

9. Confidence and a positive attitude: Lastly, don't forget to bring your self-assurance and a positive mindset. It's natural to feel a bit nervous, but remember that you've prepared for this and can do your best!

On the other hand, avoid bringing personal items (like your phone, purse, or bag) into the testing room, as they may need to be stored in a designated area and could be an unnecessary distraction.

Good luck on your SAT!
