Do colleges prefer AP classes or dual enrollment?

Hi all! I'm a junior, and I've been trying to plan out my schedule for senior year. My school offers both AP classes and dual enrollment options, and I'm not sure which one colleges prefer. Can anyone give me some advice on whether I should focus on AP classes or dual enrollment? Thanks for your help!

Hi there! It's great that you're considering your options for senior year. Ultimately, the decision between AP classes and dual enrollment depends on your personal goals and the colleges you're interested in. Both options have their merits, so let's break it down a bit. AP classes are designed to provide college-level coursework in a high school setting and culminate in an exam that can potentially earn you college credit. They're widely recognized, and their consistent curriculum can be an advantage. Dual enrollment, on the other hand, allows you to take actual college courses, often at a local community college. This can give you a taste of the college experience and may also earn you college credits. Some colleges might give more weight to one option over the other, but generally speaking, they appreciate students who challenge themselves academically. The most important thing is to choose the option that best aligns with your interests and long-term goals. Whichever route you take, make sure to maintain a strong GPA and stay involved in extracurricular activities to showcase your well-roundedness. Best of luck in your senior year!
