Hello everyone! I'm a junior and I've been hearing about test-optional colleges. Can anyone explain how this works and if it's possible to apply to college without submitting SAT or ACT scores? Will not submitting scores hurt my chances of admission? Thanks in advance for any help!
Hey there! You're right, many colleges these days are going test-optional, which means they don't require SAT or ACT scores as part of the application process. This can be a great option for students who might not have had the opportunity to take the tests, or those who feel their scores don't accurately represent their abilities. When applying to a test-optional school, your application will be evaluated based on other factors, like your GPA, extracurricular activities, essays, and letters of recommendation. Not submitting scores won't necessarily hurt your chances of admission, especially if the rest of your application is strong. However, if you have good test scores, submitting them can still be beneficial. My own child chose to submit their scores to a test-optional school and it worked out well for them. Just make sure to research each school's policy and decide what's best for you. Good luck!
