Do I have to report all of my standardized test scores to colleges?

Hello, I've taken the SAT/ACT multiple times and have some better scores than others. Do I need to report all of my scores to colleges, or can I just send my highest scores? What is the typical process for sending test scores to colleges, and is there any advantage to sending multiple sets of scores? Thanks for your help!

Hi there! I understand how the process of sending standardized test scores can be confusing. To answer your question, it largely depends on the specific colleges you're applying to, as each institution may have different policies regarding standardized test scores.

Many colleges follow the 'superscore' policy, which means they will only evaluate your highest section scores across all the test dates you submit, so even if you send multiple sets of scores, they'll only review the best. This approach can be advantageous as it allows your highest scores to be considered without any negative impact from your lower ones.

However, some colleges may ask that you send your entire testing history. You should check the individual requirements for each college you're interested in to know their specific policies. The process for sending test scores typically requires you to request score delivery through the respective SAT or ACT website. There may be a fee associated with this, so be prepared for that.

I hope this helps! Good luck with your college applications.
