What are the benefits of applying Early Action?

Hey everyone! I'm a high school junior, and I've been hearing a lot about applying Early Action to colleges. I'm not quite sure what the benefits are, though. Can anyone explain why applying Early Action might be a good idea?

Hello! It's great that you're thinking about the college application process early. Applying Early Action (EA) can have several benefits, and I'll be happy to share some from my experience with my child's application process. Firstly, EA allows you to submit your application earlier than the Regular Decision (RD) deadline, usually between November and December. This means you'll get your admission decision earlier as well, typically in December or January. This can help reduce stress, as you know where you stand with at least one college before the RD decisions come out. Secondly, EA can demonstrate your interest in a school, which some colleges appreciate. It shows that you've done your research and are proactive in your application process. However, keep in mind that EA is non-binding, so you'll still have until May 1st to commit to a college. Lastly, although it's not always the case, some colleges have slightly higher acceptance rates during EA compared to RD. This could be because the applicant pool is typically smaller and more self-selecting. However, it's important to remember that you should only apply EA if you feel your application is strong and ready by the deadline. Best of luck!
