Should I retake the ACT if my score is just below my target schools' average?

Hey guys! I recently took the ACT and my score is slightly below the average of my target schools. Should I retake the ACT to increase my chances of getting in, or focus on other parts of my application? Any advice is appreciated!

Hello! If your ACT score is only slightly below the average for your target schools, it's worth considering to retake the test for a higher score. A better score might improve your chances of getting accepted. However, it's also important to remember that standardized test scores are just one part of the application process.

You should weigh how much time and effort it will take to prepare for another attempt at the ACT against other factors, like your extracurricular activities, essays, and recommendations. If you feel confident that you can score higher with some additional preparation, go for it, but remember to give yourself enough time. On the other hand, if there are other areas of your application that need more attention, it might be better to allocate your time and resources to those.
