SAT score of 1500 - where do I stand?

Hi everyone, I just got my SAT results back and I scored a 1500. I'm wondering what percentile this places me in and how competitive this score is for college admissions. Any insights?

Congratulations on your SAT score! A 1500 is an excellent result and places you in a competitive range for many colleges. To give you an idea of where you stand, this score puts you in roughly the 98th percentile, meaning you scored higher than approximately 98% of test-takers.

In terms of college admissions, a 1500 is generally considered a strong score, especially when combined with a solid GPA, strong extracurriculars, and well-written essays. While top-tier universities like the Ivy League, Stanford, or MIT have average SAT scores at the higher end of the spectrum—typically 1470-1570—your score of 1500 still puts you within a competitive range for these schools.

However, keep in mind that each college evaluates applicants holistically, considering various academic and non-academic factors beyond just SAT scores. Additionally, some colleges and universities have adopted test-optional or test-blind policies, so it's essential to research each specific school's testing policy and admission requirements.

In any case, a 1500 is undeniably a strong score, and it should help make your overall application quite competitive at a wide range of schools. Good luck with your college application process!
