How many years can financial aid assist me with throughout my college journey?

I'm feeling a little bit overwhelmed by the whole college process, and I've been looking into financial aid options. How many years does financial aid usually cover for students? I know there may be variations, but a general idea would be great. Thanks in advance!

Hello! It's completely normal to feel overwhelmed by the college process, but you're on the right track seeking guidance. Financial aid usually covers a student for four years of undergraduate study, given that the student maintains satisfactory academic progress and meets other eligibility criteria each year. Always keep in mind that there may be variations based on the type of financial aid and the institution providing it.

For example, federal Pell grants funding usually covers up to six years (or 12 semesters) of undergraduate education. But, institutional aid from colleges or private scholarships could have different rules. Make sure to thoroughly read and understand the terms and conditions of each financial aid package you receive.

Remember to apply for financial aid each year by completing the FAFSA or CSS PROFILE (depending on the requirements of the college). If your financial situation changes, your aid package may vary from year to year. Good luck!
