Top Division 2 Colleges?

Hi everyone! I'm starting my college search and I've heard a bit about Division 2 colleges. Can someone explain what makes a college a Div 2 school, and which ones are considered the best or most well-known? Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

Division 2 colleges are part of the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) and are classified as such due to the level of athletic competition and the financial investments these schools make in their athletic programs. Division 2 schools typically have fewer athletic scholarships available, smaller athletic budgets, and a greater focus on the balance between academics and athletics compared to Division 1 schools. However, the competition and overall quality of athletics still remain high.

While individual schools can be strong in particular academic fields or sports, some of the well-known and highly-regarded Division 2 colleges overall include:

1. Colorado School of Mines: This college is famous for its engineering and applied science programs and has over 20 athletic teams.

2. Bentley University: Bentley is a renowned school for undergraduate business programs located in Massachusetts, with a strong athletic community.

3. Rollins College: Located in Florida, Rollins has a strong liberal arts program and competes in 24 sports.

4. Truman State University: Truman State is known for its strong academics and has a significant athletic presence as well.

It's important to consider not only the athletic reputation of a Division 2 college but also its academic offerings and campus culture when making your decision. If you want to participate in college athletics and prioritize a greater balance between sports and academics, Division 2 colleges might be a great fit for you. Be sure to research each school individually to find the best option based on your athletic and academic interests.

Good luck with your college search!
