AP Seminar Exam Scoring: What should I know?

Hi there, I'm enrolled in AP Seminar and wanted to know if anyone had any info on how the exam is scored. I know there's a calculator for other AP exams, but I couldn't find one for AP Seminar. Any guidance would be awesome! Thanks!

AP Seminar is a unique course, and its exam scoring differs from traditional AP exams. The AP Seminar exam score is based on three main components: Team Multimedia Presentation and Defense (TMP), Individual Research-Based Essay and Presentation (IR), and the End-of-Course (EoC) Exam. Here's a breakdown of how the scoring works:

1. Team Multimedia Presentation and Defense (TMP): This component consists of a team project completed during the course. Your team will conduct research, present your findings, and answer questions about your topic. The TMP contributes to 20% of your AP Seminar score.

2. Individual Research-Based Essay and Presentation (IR): This component involves in-depth individual research and the creation of a written essay and oral presentation. The IR accounts for 35% of your AP Seminar score, with the written essay worth 30% and the oral presentation worth 5%.

3. End-of-Course (EoC) Exam: Unlike most AP exams, the EoC exam for AP Seminar is not purely multiple-choice or free-response questions. Instead, it's composed of three tasks: short-answer questions, essay response, and a source-based multiple-choice section. The EoC Exam carries a weight of 45% of your total AP Seminar score.

Once all components are assessed, scores are combined and reported on an AP scale of 1-5, just like other AP courses. Predicting your score in AP Seminar is more difficult than in other AP classes, given the structure, which is likely why you haven't found a calculator out there.

The best way to prepare is to focus on mastering each component separately and ensuring that you submit high-quality work in all areas. Collaborate effectively with your teammates, be diligent in your individual research, and practice your presentation skills.
