Is it better to take a difficult class and get a lower grade or take an easier class and get an A?

Hey guys, I'm planning my schedule for senior year and I'm not sure if I should take AP Calc BC or stick with regular Calculus. I think I can manage a B or maybe a low A in BC, but I'd definitely get a higher grade in regular Calc. What do you think is the better option for college applications? Thanks for your help!

Hi there! It's great to see you're thinking about your senior year schedule and considering what's best for college applications. When it comes to choosing between a difficult class with a potentially lower grade or an easier class with a higher grade, it's important to strike a balance. Colleges like to see that students challenge themselves, so taking AP Calc BC could be a way to demonstrate that. However, maintaining a high GPA is also important. If you think you can manage a B or low A in AP Calc BC, it might be worth taking the class. Just make sure you're able to handle the workload and still succeed in your other classes. If you're really concerned about your grade in AP Calc BC, you could consider taking regular Calc and looking for other ways to challenge yourself, like joining clubs or participating in extracurricular activities related to your interests. Good luck with your decision!
