Are college visits necessary for making a good impression?

Hi everyone! I've heard that some students visit colleges they're interested in to get a feel for the campus and make a good impression on the admissions office. Is this true? Do college visits really help in the admissions process, or is it more about getting to know the campus? I'm worried because I haven't visited any colleges yet, and I feel like I might be missing out on something important. Thanks for any advice!

Hey there! College visits can be helpful for both you and the admissions office, but they aren't a strict requirement for making a good impression.

Visiting a campus can give you a better understanding of the college environment and help you decide if it's the right fit for you. It can also demonstrate your interest in the school, which may be a factor that some colleges consider during the admissions process. However, not all colleges track demonstrated interest, so it's not always a decisive factor.

If you're unable to visit a college, there are other ways to show your interest and learn about the campus. You can attend virtual tours, webinars, or college fairs, connect with current students or alumni, and follow the college's social media accounts. These activities can help you gather information about the school and possibly make a good impression as well.

Don't stress too much about not visiting colleges. Focus on making your application as strong as possible and explore alternative ways to learn about the schools you're interested in. Good luck!
