How much does it cost to take the ACT?

Hi, I'm planning on taking the ACT soon, and I was wondering what the cost is to register for the exam. Also, are there fees for sending scores to colleges? Trying to plan my budget here. Thanks in advance!

Hi there! The cost of taking the ACT without the Writing section is $63, while taking it with the Writing section costs $88. Keep in mind that these fees cover the basic registration for the exam, which includes sending score reports to up to four colleges.

If you need to send your scores to more than four colleges, there is a fee of $18.5 per additional score report. It's important to note that these fees are for regular reporting (which takes around 2-3 weeks).

Also, if you're facing financial challenges, you may be eligible for a fee waiver, which covers the cost of registration for up to two ACT tests (with or without Writing). You can talk to your high school counselor to see if you qualify.

To effectively plan your budget, consider how many colleges you plan on applying to and if you'll need to send score reports to all of them. Additionally, think about whether or not you'll be taking the ACT multiple times. Good luck!
