Is a 1480 SAT score competitive for Ivy League admission?

Hello! I took the SAT and scored a 1480, which I feel good about. However, I'm concerned that it may not be impressive enough for Ivy League applications. Should I try to improve my score, or is a 1480 a reasonable score for these schools? Thanks for your input!

Hey there! Congrats on your 1480 SAT score - that's definitely a solid score to be proud of! When it comes to Ivy League admissions, however, it's important to keep in mind that these schools are indeed highly competitive. A higher SAT score might give your application a slight edge.

However, it's also important to remember that Ivy League schools consider many other factors in the admissions process aside from test scores. They look at your extracurricular activities, leadership roles, unique experiences, essays, and recommendations too. So, even if your score may not be quite at the top level for these schools, a strong application in other areas could still give you a good chance.

If you're truly passionate about attending an Ivy League school and you feel that you can either retake the test to improve your score, or dedicate time to strengthening other aspects of your application, then go for it! But, don't forget that there are many other fantastic schools out there that would be thrilled to have a student with a 1480 SAT score. Best of luck!
