Do colleges look at 7th-semester grades?

Hey everyone, I'm a senior and I sent out my college applications a while back. However, my first-semester grades recently came in and they're higher than my previous GPA. Is there a chance that colleges will see these grades and take them into consideration before decisions are sent out?

Hey there! Congratulations on your higher first-semester grades! That's definitely something to be proud of. It's great to know you put effort into your academics during your senior year.

To answer your question, yes, colleges do sometimes consider 7th-semester grades (though not every school). It depends on the college's policies and the timing of when your transcripts are received. Schools that use a Regular Decision timeline are more likely to consider these grades since decisions often aren't made until after the semester ends. However, Early Decision and Early Action schools may not take these grades into account if decisions are made before they receive the updated transcripts.

I recommend having your high school counselor send an updated transcript to the schools you've applied to. Colleges may appreciate knowing that you're performing at a higher level during your final year in high school. Best of luck!
