Is it too late to join extracurriculars as a junior?

Hi everyone! I'm a junior in high school, and I feel like my extracurricular activities are somewhat lacking. I've been involved in a few clubs, but I haven't taken any leadership positions or participated in anything super unique. Is it too late for me to join new clubs and make an impact to improve my college applications?

Hi there! It's great that you're thinking about your extracurricular involvement before college applications. While it may feel like you're a bit behind, the good news is that it's never too late to get involved in new activities or to further engage in the clubs you're already a part of.

Consider looking for clubs or activities that genuinely interest you and align with your passions. If you're committed and enthusiastic about something, you're more likely to make an impact in a shorter amount of time. You could also talk to the leaders of the clubs you're already in to see if there are any upcoming opportunities for you to step up and take on a more significant role or lead a project.

You might also consider starting your own club or working on your own project on the side, such as coding an app or coaching youth gymnastics. Extracurriculars don't exclusively come in the form of school clubs.

Remember, colleges value quality over quantity when it comes to extracurriculars. Rather than trying to join a significant number of new clubs, focus on deepening your involvement in just a few. That way, you can demonstrate your dedication and potentially make a more meaningful impact that will resonate with admissions officers. Good luck!
