Is it feasible to switch majors after being admitted?

Hi! I'm a junior and, lately, I've been questioning my initial choice of major. If I apply to college for one specific major and get accepted, how difficult would it be to switch majors once I'm enrolled? I know it might depend on the school, but I'm just looking for some general advice or personal experiences. Thanks!

Hi there! It's definitely normal to have second thoughts about your major, and it's a good question to ask. From my experience with my own child, it is indeed feasible to switch majors after being admitted to a school. However, as you mentioned, the ease of switching depends on the college and the majors involved.

Some schools have a more flexible approach and allow students to switch majors easily within the first year or two. For example, my child switched from biology to economics after the first year without any issues. On the other hand, certain majors, like engineering or nursing, might have special requirements or more structured programs making switching more difficult.

The best advice I can give is to research the major change policies at the schools you're interested in applying to and reach out to their admissions offices for more information. Good luck!
